The police have confirmed the arrest of Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, widely known as Sam Larry, in connection with the death of the late Afrobeat singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad. According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos State police command, Sam Larry, a music promoter, is currently in custody and is providing information related to the circumstances surrounding the late singer’s demise.
Sam Larry, along with his associate, Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, had denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death. Nevertheless, due to their previous altercations with Mohbad, there have been calls for their apprehension.
The arrest of Sam Larry was executed upon his return to Nigeria from Kenya, occurring at approximately 10 pm on Thursday. He was subsequently transferred to the police force headquarters in Lagos. Upon his arrival at the force headquarters, around 10:30 pm, he underwent questioning by the Commissioner of Police and was later handed over to the authorities at the DC Panti area.
Sam Larry is expected to provide further details to the police during their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
The arrest of Sam Larry, a music promoter and associate of Nigerian singer Naira Marley, has stirred discussions and calls for the arrest of both Naira Marley and Sam Larry in connection with Mohbad’s death. Despite their denial of involvement in Mohbad’s death, their multiple conflicts with the late singer, who controversially left Marlian Records in 2022, have sparked suspicions.
On Thursday night, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State police command, confirmed that Sam Larry is currently in police custody.
