A portion of Ooni of Ife’s palace was consumed by fire.
In a similar incident that occurred in April, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, experienced a fire outbreak within his palace. The fire engulfed a building apartment in the monarch’s palace courtyard around 11:30 pm on Friday, April 28. The blaze was reportedly triggered by an explosion of electrical appliances in the affected apartment, caused by a power surge.
The Palace Spokesperson, Moses Olafare, assured the public that the fire had been brought under control and that there were no casualties or losses of cultural items. Thankfully, the inferno was contained within the Courtyard area of the palace premises and did not spread further.
Amidst concerns about the well-being of the Ooni’s wives and palace members, one netizen attempted to attribute blame to Tinubu for the incident.
