In a recent candid interview with Chudeity, Funke Akindele, a renowned actress in Nollywood, bravely shared a dark chapter of her life when she grappled with thoughts of suicide following the public disclosure of her first marriage’s breakup. She courageously discussed her experiences to shed light on the importance of making thoughtful decisions when it comes to marriage.
The accomplished businesswoman offered valuable advice to women who may feel pressured to rush into marriage. She urged them to take a step back, remain composed, and invest time in making careful choices. Funke emphasized that hastily entering marriages often leads to rushed exits, highlighting the significance of patience and prudence in such life-altering decisions.
Drawing from her own personal experience of a failed marriage, Funke Akindele disclosed:
“You know, I just wanted to get married. I wanted to do things right, have children, and all that. But when I went into my first marriage, it didn’t work out well. It ended badly, and the whole world was talking about it on social media. I received a call about it while I was filming, and it was devastating. I felt like I wanted to give up.”
Despite facing challenging times and losing some valuable opportunities, Funke did not allow the situation to break her spirit.
Continuing, she encouraged single ladies not to succumb to pressure from parents or friends to rush into marriage. Instead, she emphasized that they should marry because they genuinely love their partners and should have children because they desire to do so.
