Chinedu Ikedieze, a well-known Nigerian actor also known as Aki, expresses his concern about the increasing number of online beggars.
Taking to Instagram, the veteran actor shares his frustration over the numerous individuals sliding into his Direct Messages (DM) to request financial assistance.
In a video posted on his page, Aki reveals that he has received messages asking for exorbitant amounts of money, such as $35,000 and $12,000. He expresses his anger, emphasizing that these outrageous monetary demands are not limited to Nigerians alone.
Aki appeals to social media users to consider that celebrities also have their own responsibilities. He explains that he cannot fulfill everyone’s demands, especially during these challenging times.
“This situation is getting out of hand. How can you turn my DM into Bank of Industry? Whenever I open my DM, it’s always ‘Oga please, please, please.’ Jesus! It’s too much. The way you all beg, it’s as if we don’t have our own responsibilities. If I start giving out money like that, it will run out.”
Aki highlights a specific incident where someone asked him for $35,000, which is equivalent to approximately twenty-something million Naira. He also mentions another request for $12,000 to set up a shop. He emphasizes that the issue extends beyond Nigerians.
