Nigerian Police Threatens Arrest of Another Prankster over Controversial Prank Video
The Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), CSP Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has issued a warning of potential arrest for another prankster due to the release of his recent prank video. The police official condemned the video, which depicted a prankster, Prichichi, releasing a dog on a commuter who had chased him to his compound after being flogged while on a bike.
This announcement comes after the recent arrest of Oyo-based skit maker, Trinity Guy, who faced charges related to “immoral pranks” following repeated warnings from the police regarding his extreme prank videos. Trinity Guy was subsequently arraigned and remanded by an Oyo State Magistrate Court for alleged sexual exploitation of a 10-year-old minor.
In his statement, the Police PRO sternly warned that consequences would soon catch up with extravagant pranksters. He wrote, “You see this? If he’s arrested now, many will still criticize the police, claiming it’s just a business. Imagineā¦ Anyway, every day is for the thief, one day is for the owner. Let them continue with their actions.”
Social media users who watched the video expressed their opinions, with many testifying that the prankster had gone too far with his skits. Others shared differing thoughts. Here are some of the reactions:
@iamolyjosh commented, “But you can see from the camera angles and editing that this is a scripted video.”
@Drabrah1 remarked, “People have been doing skits before, but when it comes to Nigeria, everyone wants to be a skit maker. People have been breaking Guinness World Records (GWR), and one of our own packaged hers and took it to the next level, now everyone wants to break GWR until we collapse on top of world records.”
@EchoOscarOscar added, “Exactly! Multiple camera angles! Obviously a skit with everyone involved being actors! Even the dog! I’m waiting to see the police arresting everyone, including the dog!”
@iamskamal_ questioned, “This prank is too expensive, I swear. What’s all this? So, to say sorry after being bitten by a dog?”
@MrSNoockie jokingly commented, “But if this isn’t a skit, I would ask the guy not to do it again. Imagine if the person being pranked got injured. We would be having a different conversation now, as the fear of a dog alone can cause health problems.”
