Joseph Aloba, the father of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has shared the story of how his son met his wife, Wunmi, at Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label.
The circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing have sparked discussions for over two weeks.
Joseph Aloba revealed that Mohbad and his wife had known each other since their childhood days in Oke-Iletu, Ikorodu, Lagos. He described Mohbad as a simple and humble individual. They later crossed paths again at Naira Marley’s label. Before this reunion, there were no ties connecting them, although they had a history from their earlier years.
Aloba provided further context, citing a line from Mohbad’s 2020 song “Komajensun,” which goes, “Naira lo gbe omo fun mi, I’m not a womanizer.” This line alludes to how Mohbad reconnected with Wunmi at Marlian Music.
“He (Mohbad) met the lady (Wunmi) there (at Marlian Music), but they had known each other from Oke-Iletu, even though she was a student back then,” Aloba shared with the reporter.
The Lagos State Police Command has initiated an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the artist’s passing.
Furthermore, the Coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death has scheduled October 13, 2023, for witnesses to testify. Attorney Funmi Falana, representing Mohbad’s family alongside other legal representatives, held closed-door proceedings to discuss the logistics for the presentation of evidence.
Following these proceedings, Falana stated, “Today, we discussed the procedures that will help us seek justice. The date has been set, and we will bring our witnesses.”
