Sam Larry has issued an official statement in response to his arrest by the police and has addressed his altercation with the late Mohbad.

Renowned Lagos socialite, Sam Larry, has issued an official statement in response to his recent arrest by the police.

On September 28th, 2023, Sam Larry was apprehended by the Lagos police, shortly after his return to Nigeria, in connection to the death of Mohbad.

In the official statement, Sam Larry addresses the viral video depicting his altercation with Mohbad during a video shoot with Zlatan Ibile.

In his statement, Sam Larry revealed:

“Two years ago, I gave Ileri N2 million to perform at my mother’s annual remembrance concert in Ikorodu. However, he failed to show up for the event. When I inquired about the reason, he claimed to be unwell. I asked for a refund, but he stated that he lost both his phone and money during an NDLEA raid at his place. He further mentioned that he was broke, especially since leaving Marlian Records, and had no intention of repaying me. He then left.

To my surprise, I later learned that the same artist was shooting a music video practically on the next street to my house. I confronted him once again to request my money. We had a brief argument that lasted for about five minutes. Even one of his friends insisted that he would pay me back. To this day, not a single kobo has been refunded, and this incident occurred early last year.

Since then, I have moved on and even traveled to Kenya to find a new African act for my mother’s concert this year. I have been away since August 20th, and I have no knowledge of the situation other than what I have read in blogs and the press. I don’t even know his current residence; I only know his former label boss and their house. I am unaware of any nurse, doctor, or hospital involved, and I have no knowledge of his movements. I have experienced more significant financial losses in the past; you win some, you lose some. That is my story, and I consider the case closed. I came here voluntarily and willingly. I have no knowledge of how the musician passed away.” – Sam Larry
