Nigerian actor and movie director Tope Adebayo voices his frustration over the challenges of obtaining financial support in the Nollywood industry, especially for indigenous movies.
In a video shared on his official Instagram account, he highlights the difficulties faced in securing funding for movie production, which become even more pronounced when dealing with indigenous films. Tope recalls an instance where he sought support from a company but was turned down because his project was a Yoruba movie. Instead, he was advised to rewrite the script in English.

The Nollywood Filmmaking Industry has long grappled with the daunting challenge of securing sufficient funding.
Despite its tremendous popularity and substantial contributions to the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood frequently encounters financial obstacles that hinder its growth and potential.
Limited access to capital, a scarcity of investment opportunities, and inadequate government support all play a part in this enduring struggle.
Nevertheless, despite these hindrances, Nollywood filmmakers exhibit unwavering determination and ingenuity, finding creative solutions to overcome funding challenges and bring their artistic visions to life.
