Actor Kunle Afolayan rejoice as Anikulapo wins best overall film award

Nigerian film producer Kunle Afolayan was overjoyed as Anikulapo won the prestigious 2023 AMAA Awards’ best overall film accolade. The African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, unfolded on a Sunday at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, and was skillfully hosted by Nancy Isime, Rahama Sadau, and Richard Ato Turkson.

Anikulapo, a project both produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan, also secured the award for best achievement in production design. In a touching tribute, the filmmaker dedicated this honor to the late Pat Nebo.

On Monday, the 49-year-old extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees and winners via an Instagram post, expressing his gratitude and immense pride.

Kunle Afolayan, the creator of the movie “Anikulapo,” shared his sentiments, stating: “I’m deeply honored and grateful.

We’ve won the Best Overall Film in an African Language award for ‘Anikulapo.’ Additionally, ‘Anikulapo’ received the Best Achievement in Production Design award, and I dedicate this to the esteemed Pat Nebo.
