The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued an official press statement addressing the alleged arrest and detention of Mohbad before his demise.
In response to a viral video in which the late singer claimed that the drug agency had coerced him into consuming white substances while in their custody, the NDLEA clarified in a detailed statement that Mohbad had never been arrested or detained in their custody.
The statement reads, “In response to media inquiries regarding the assertion made by the Lagos State Police Command during a press conference on Friday, October 6, 2023, that it had not received a response from the NDLEA concerning social media allegations related to the alleged arrest and detention of the late artiste, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, the Agency would like to clarify that its response was indeed sent to the police and received on Thursday, September 28, 2023.”
“To underscore the seriousness with which the Agency regarded this matter, our formal response, dated Thursday, September 28, 2023, was dispatched to Lagos by air and successfully delivered to the police on the same Thursday, September 28. We are providing a summary of our response for the benefit of the public inquiring into this matter:
“We have taken note of the unsubstantiated social media allegation that Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, was arrested and detained by the NDLEA on February 24, 2022, and given a substance to consume. In response to this allegation, we want to unequivocally state that MohBad was never arrested, nor was he detained in NDLEA custody on the mentioned date or any other date before or after. Given this factual basis, the issue of administering any substance to him does not apply.
