In a recent statement, popular Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninolowo has opened up about the reasons behind his separation from his wife, Bunmi.
In an interview with BBC News, Bolanle Ninolowo revealed that his wife, Bunmi, with whom he has two children, never truly loved him.
This revelation comes after Bolanle Ninolowo announced the end of his 19-year marriage with his wife on September 1st, 2023, through his verified Instagram page. It’s worth noting that this wasn’t the first time his marriage faced difficulties, as he had confirmed a separation from his wife in 2017 after 12 years together.
In the BBC interview, Bolanle Ninolowo explained that he returned to Nigeria for the first time in 15 years while living in the USA. He recounted meeting his ex-wife on the street where his mother lived. At the time, he was 24 years old, and she was 23 years old. After six months of being together, she became pregnant, and Bolanle’s mother insisted that he marry her since he was responsible for her pregnancy.
Bolanle Ninolowo went on to reveal that, in his opinion, his wife never loved him. He claimed that she used him to improve the lives of her own family due to her selfish nature.
In his words: “I met her on the street where my mom lives when I was 24 years old, and she was 23. After six months of being together, she got pregnant, and my mom told me it was a must I marry her since I was responsible for her pregnancy.”
Bolanle Ninolowo, now a prominent Nollywood actor, returned to Nigeria and revealed that despite his hard work to improve the life of his wife and children in the USA, he received negativity from his wife.
The actor, who had gifted his wife a house in November 2022 in the USA, expressed that his wife, Bunmi, never offered morning prayers for him or supported him in any life situation.
He went on to explain that Bunmi was primarily focused on her own well-being and bringing her family from Nigeria to the USA, neglecting him and their family.
