Davido, the acclaimed singer, extended his condolences to fellow artist Wizkid after the passing of his mother.
Reported by Naijalegit on Friday, Wizkid suffered the loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.
The singer’s mother passed away at approximately 1:30 am on Friday, August 18th.
Sunday Aare, Wizkid’s longstanding manager, confirmed the unfortunate news to The Punch, stating, “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1:30 am.”
Survived by three children—Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid), Yetunde Balogun, and Lade Balogun—the departed soul’s passing prompted Davido to share his thoughts. In a comforting message, Davido noted that sorrow dissipates over time’s passage.
In his consolation, Davido expressed that he is praying for Wizkid, whom he regards as a brother, saying, “Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo. Sadness flies away on the wings of time.”
In response to the tragedy of Davido losing his son, it’s worth recalling that Wizkid displayed compassion toward him.
Davido faced the heartache of losing his eldest son, Ifeanyi, whom he shares with his wife, Chioma Rowland, on October 31st, just days following his 3rd birthday. The young child was reported to have tragically drowned in a swimming pool.
Amid the worldwide mourning for Davido’s son, Wizkid demonstrated his empathy. The Grammy-winning artist, initially unaware of Ifeanyi’s passing, used Twitter to promote his album. However, he swiftly removed the tweet shortly after posting it, showcasing his solidarity with Davido during this challenging time.
