Seun Egbegbe, a prominent filmmaker and producer in the Nollywood industry, experienced a notable absence of support from his colleagues as he celebrated his birthday.
Seun’s reputation suffered a significant blow following his conviction for fraud by a Federal High Court in Lagos. He had spent six years and eight months in prison custody.
On February 10, 2017, Seun was remanded in custody after being accused of defrauding around 40 Bureaux De Change operators across different locations in Lagos. This fraudulent activity took place over a two-year period from 2015 to 2017.
His fraudulent scheme involved tricking the BDC operators by falsely claiming that he had Nigerian currency that he wanted to exchange for foreign currencies.
On May 31st, Seun Egbegbe, a controversial figure in the Yoruba movie industry at the age of 46, celebrated his birthday. However, despite his attempts to share his joy on social media, many of his colleagues refrained from commenting or posting birthday wishes on their own social media accounts.
Undeterred by the lack of external celebration, Seun decided to commemorate the occasion himself. He shared a photo of himself along with a caption that read, “I am plus 1 today. Happy birthday to me.”
In another post, he wrote, “Still my day. Thank you, Father Lord.”
