The Benefits of Not Rushing to Leave Your Parents’ Home— VJ ADAMS(Video)

In a recent Instagram video, renowned TV presenter Adams Ibrahim Adebola, popularly known as VJ Adams, shares his perspective on why teenagers should not hastily leave their parents’ home.

VJ Adams emphasizes the escalating costs of renting, particularly in affluent areas. He believes that the desire for “freedom” often serves as a cover for indulging in wayward behavior and losing control. He proposes an alternative approach, highlighting the benefits of saving rent money for an extended period while residing with parents.

“Why rush to leave your parents’ house if you’re 17 or 18, especially when they live in a favorable location? The claim of needing freedom is often a disguise for wanting to engage in substance abuse,” VJ Adams argues. He presents a hypothetical scenario, suggesting that instead of spending money on rent for ten years, one could save a substantial amount. By saving N3 million each year for a decade, a total of N30 million can be accumulated. This sizable sum can then be utilized to secure a comfortable living space when the individual is truly ready to move out at the age of 27.

VJ Adams acknowledges that his situation was different, having been compelled to leave his parents’ home due to the distance from his workplace.
