Born on May 26th in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State in southwest Nigeria, Antar Laniyan is a renowned Nigerian actor, film director, and producer. Interestingly, the etymology of his first name, “Antar,” can be linked to the Yoruba term for Iguana, also referred to as “Anter” in the Yoruba language.
Commencing his acting journey in 1981, he gained early recognition for his role as a “major general” in the film “Everybody Wants to Know” during his tenure with the Kakaki Art Squad. His career flourished, and he became a fixture in numerous Nigerian films, including “Sango,” a production written by Wale Ogunyemi and produced by Obafemi Lasode. In 2000, he directed the inaugural episode of “Superstory,” an acclaimed television series created by Wale Adenuga.
