Afrobeats artiste, Davido, is facing backlash online due to an action that Muslim faithful perceive as grave disrespect to Muslims and Islam.
The controversy arose after Davido shared a music video of his signee, Logos Olori, titled “Jaye lo,” on Twitter. In the video, Logos Olori is seen sitting atop a building, singing, while some worshippers were observed praying (salah) below.
This portrayal ignited a wave of angry reactions from netizens, who have called on Davido to take down the video and issue an unreserved apology. Muslims consider obligatory prayers as sacred, and it is strictly forbidden to make jokes or play with religious practices like salah.

Here are some reactions from netizens:
@Supheey wrote: “Dear Davido, for the benefit of doubt, we will assume you do not know that Muslims hold the obligatory prayers sacred, and it’s totally prohibited to joke or play with the prayers. Please kindly take it down and apologize to all Muslims for this grave mistake.”
@waspapping_ wrote: “Davido, of all people, should know that Muslims don’t joke around with their religion. To promote that video of his with Muslims praying is not only insensitive, it’s insulting. He should, as a matter of urgency, delete that video and tender an unreserved apology.”
@Daniel Regha wrote: “Davido should delete that Jaye Lo video & apologize to Muslims as an act of respect; It’s common knowledge that the mosque is a sacred place, plus Muslims don’t condone any act/behavior that goes against their faith. Creativity is fine, but respect people’s religion & cultures.”
The public outcry emphasizes the importance of sensitivity towards religious beliefs and practices, urging public figures like Davido to be mindful of their actions in promoting content that could be perceived as disrespectful to any faith or culture.
