Former US President, Barack Obama, continues the tradition of sharing his annual Summer Playlist, and this year, he has unveiled his favorite songs for Summer 2023.
In a tweet on his official Twitter page, Barack Obama revealed a curated list of 41 songs for the season, encompassing a blend of old and new tracks. As always, he didn’t overlook Nigerian artists, featuring Burna Boy and Ayra Starr in his summer compilation.
Ayra Starr secured her spot on the list with her 2023 hit song, “Stability,” while Burna Boy earned his place with the remix of his song “Sitting On Top Of The World,” featuring 21 Savage.
Maintaining their positions from the previous year’s playlist, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr continue to receive recognition from the former president for their remarkable musical contributions.
Barack Obama expressed his excitement about sharing his music choices for the summer and invited his followers to share their recommendations, indicating his openness to discovering new and diverse sounds.

Although Rema and Wizkid had previously made it to his playlist in the past, they did not make it to his list this year. Instead, fast-rising singers Tems, Buju, and producer Pheelz, along with Grammy award-winning singer Burna Boy, were featured on his 2022 Summer playlist.
Tems’ sensational song “Vibes” secured the second spot on his playlist, while Pheelz & Buju’s hit track “Finesse” and Burna Boy’s “Last Last” also earned a spot on the list.
Looking back at the end of 2022, Barack Obama released his favorite music playlist, which also included Burna Boy, Rema, and Ayra Starr. These Nigerian stars made the former president’s list of 25 favorite songs for the year. Burna Boy’s “Last Last,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” and Rema’s “Calm Down” were recognized as standout tracks from Nigeria.
Alongside Nigerian talents, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, Rosalia, and others were also featured in Obama’s list, emphasizing his diverse taste and appreciation for music from various genres and artists.
