Kolawole Ajeyemi, a popular Nollywood actor and husband of Toyin Abraham, is facing backlash from fans after reaching out for support on behalf of ailing veteran actor Dayo Adewunmi. Ajeyemi shared a video of Adewunmi’s struggles on his Instagram page, urging his followers to assist him.
However, this plea for help has garnered criticism, with many fans accusing Ajeyemi of hypocrisy. They pointed out that he only sought assistance for Adewunmi after receiving a significant sum of N6 million from Pastor Gabriel, a well-known clergyman.
It’s worth noting that Dayo Adewunmi had previously appealed for financial aid, seeking funds for a house and a car to aid him in his battle against serious health challenges. Currently, the veteran actor can barely stand or walk. Fortunately, Pastor Gabriel, who had previously helped Iya Gbonkan, stepped in and provided financial support.
In the comment section of Ajeyemi’s post, many fans criticized him for requesting assistance from his followers when he and his wife are capable of covering Dayo Adewunmi’s medical expenses.
Here are some reactions from social media users:
Omo Alanu: “Even with all the money you and your wife have, how much are you willing to contribute towards this man’s treatment that you’re asking for help? May misfortune befall all of you in the Yoruba film industry, including Odunlade, Femi Adebayo, Funke Akindele. Despite all the money you haveā¦”
Akinz Catering event: “The question is, are you guys doing anything to help yourselves? The fans are willing to help, but it seems like there’s no love in that industry. Correct me if I’m wrong.”
Celestina Kings: “You actors are a wicked bunch of people. You’re cruel and heartless, leaving your old colleagues to die or suffer from poor health. Then you have the audacity to post about them on Facebook, begging for help.”
RG Mugabe: “So you can help your seniors, but you still post your account here? Shameless people.”
Cheedas: “Look at the hypocrisy in the industry. If the pastor hadn’t posted about it earlier, you wouldn’t have posted this now. I’m sure you were aware of this before.”
Akinola Akinjide: “All these Nigerian film industries are full of nonsense people and selfish individuals.”
Emmy Hairven: “Would you have posted about him if the pastor hadn’t approached you?”
Bukandy Oj: “You all think you’re enjoying yourselves, what if the pastor didn’t post about it? Nonsense ‘yeyebrities’.”
Kolawole Ajeyemi has faced criticism on multiple occasions in the past. This recent backlash is not the first time he has come under fire.
