Eniola Ajao recently opened up about her relationship with Odunlade Adekola, describing it as that of a boss and subordinate. She has known him for over 10 years and acknowledges his disciplined nature. Eniola revealed that she had to frequently travel to Abeokuta to get his attention.
Being a movie producer comes with its challenges, particularly in terms of sourcing capital and managing a team. Eniola expresses gratitude for being in the right place and receiving support from her boss, Odunlade, who allows her the necessary time and brings out the best in her projects. Her debut production was the movie titled “Daramola,” and she shares the experience of navigating the financial aspects, casting, and taking care of the welfare of the cast and crew.
Eniola’s parents were initially not supportive of her pursuing acting. Her father had desired for her to become an accountant, but her passion for acting prevailed. She promised her late father that she would complete her education, fulfill his wishes, and then pursue her acting career.
Eniola first met Odunlade in 2009 while on a movie set with the late Moji Olaiya. She expressed her admiration for him and her desire to work with him. Odunlade informed her that his acting school was in Abeokuta, which marked the beginning of their professional relationship. Eniola would travel to Abeokuta for rehearsals and make herself available for his movies, as Odunlade does not directly call actors but expects them to take the initiative to join his productions.
Handling male admirers and fans has not always been easy for Eniola. Some perceive her as a snob due to her reserved nature and her reluctance to create personal relationships. She prefers to maintain a professional distance and often finds it challenging to respond to their advances without being rude. In the industry, she has turned down romantic proposals and emphasizes that no one can be forced into any situation unless they allow it.
Regarding gossip and betrayal among fellow actresses, Eniola avoids such situations by keeping a close-knit circle of trusted family members and older individuals who provide guidance and support. She maintains a private and introverted lifestyle, which helps her manage the perception of others. While she doesn’t attend parties frequently, she appreciates the importance of controlling her own narrative and not engaging in gossip.
Balancing her busy schedule and family life can be challenging, but Eniola’s loved ones understand the nature of her work and support her endeavors. Although she is not married, Eniola reveals that she will be soon.
Eniola also shared her views on the differences between Yoruba and English Nollywood movies. She believes that Yoruba movies have more captivating storylines, but the industry lacks proper investment, resulting in low-budget productions. English Nollywood movies appear to have an edge due to increased financial backing. However, Eniola emphasizes the need for collaboration and higher production standards within the Yoruba movie industry.
Lastly, Eniola clarifies that she has a twin sister named Kenny, and they both have their respective names and identities. While her sister supports her career, she has no interest in joining the movie industry.
