Olayinka Adebanjo, a popular Yoruba movie actress, has shared the heartbreaking reason behind her absence from the movie industry, revealing how the loss of her only child deeply affected her career.
In a candid interview on Biola Adebayo Ent’s official YouTube channel, Adebanjo disclosed that her son, who was 28 years old at the time of his passing, was her sole source of joy. The tragedy left her devastated, prompting her to step away from acting.
She further opened up about her struggles in trying to have another child through surrogacy, explaining that financial constraints have made the process difficult.
Recounting the heartbreaking experience, Adebanjo said, “One of my friends called to inform me that my son was sick. I was so confused; I didn’t know what to do. I prepared to travel to Lagos, where he was receiving treatment, but in my state of shock, I left the house without even wearing shoes. I stood on a bridge for hours until my friend came to take me home.”
She continued, “When we got back, I noticed a crowd had gathered in front of my house, but no one said anything to me. It was a pastor who finally broke the news that my son had passed away. I locked myself in the house and cried uncontrollably. It was the most painful experience of my life.”
The actress further explained that the tragedy led her to quit acting. “I stopped acting when I lost my only child. Since then, I’ve been trying to gather funds for surrogacy, but I haven’t been able to raise the money. I’ve begged and approached many people, but nothing has come through till now,” she said.
Her story highlights the personal struggles celebrities often face behind the scenes and her resilience in the face of unimaginable loss.
