Fast-rising Nollywood actress Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi and the babymama of singer Portable, has shared her firm resolution for the year on Instagram.
In her post, Ashabi addressed her actor colleagues, making it clear that if they want her to work on their projects this year, they must budget for her payment. She emphasized that she would no longer tolerate being asked to work for free, stating that such requests would upset her.
She informed vendors that she would not collaborate with them if they wanted her to endorse her products for free or at ridiculous prices.
As she asked how she would be able to pay her expenses if she worked for free, the mother of two observed that bills are serious business. Ashabi stated that she will be staying at a lot of Nos this year because she wants to work at jobs that she is satisfied and proud of.
“You are my friend, and you really want me on your project this year. Make sure you include payment in your budget.
Or don’t call me at all. I won’t even be mad. But I will be mad if you expect me to support you for free.
You are a vendor, and if you want me to influence your brand for free or at silly rates, don’t bother o. I’d rather not work with you.
Bills are not joking with anyone right now, so if I work for free how do I pay my bills?
Pls, take note.
I will be saying a lot of NO this year ( I want to do jobs I will be proud of ). I want to be happy doing my job, not just coming online to post location pictures or influencer deals. (So help me God)”.
