Bobrisky has sparked fresh controversy by claiming that an award he won during the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s film marked the beginning of his recent troubles.
The popular social media personality, who recently relocated to the UK, disclosed that his issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) began after he was crowned the “Best Dressed Female” and awarded a cash prize of N1 million at the Nollywood actress’s movie premiere.
Bobrisky’s revelation has stirred mixed reactions, with many questioning the connection between the award and his ongoing challenges.
The crossdresser has moved from battle to battle ever since his release from police custody. It will be recalled that Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for abusing the naira in April 2024. Bobrisky faced scrutiny following allegations that he paid for preferential treatment while serving his jail term. A viral audio clip claimed that he bribed Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officials to enjoy special privileges while in custody.
Bobrisky was apprehended by the EFCC at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam.
The arrest quickly went viral as Bobrisky alerted his followers online, claiming he sustained injuries during the incident. He pleaded, “Nigerians, help me! EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
He was later transferred to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was interrogated over allegations of bribing EFCC officials to dismiss earlier money laundering charges.
In a post via his Instagram page, Bobrisky stated that he would never get involved in any price or award belonging to a female.
He wrote, “My problem started from when I collected best dressed female with N1 million price. For my life if I see award for best dressed female I go disappear from that location. Everyone know the truth that I am a baddie with class, you wanna compete with me? your mummy never, but when problem wan too much, I run.”
