Veteran Nigerian actress Binta Ayo Mogaji-Oduleye, a pioneering figure in Nollywood, has made her mark both on stage and screen, earning widespread acclaim throughout her career.
Speaking on the talk show Your View today, where the topic of discussion was “Nudity as a Marketing Strategy,” Mogaji offered her perspective. She acknowledged that the use of nudity in marketing depends on the product being sold, but emphasized that she does not support it. According to her, promoting nudity involves “embracing a culture that is not ours.” She further argued that the decision to use nudity reflects one’s background and can negatively impact personal image and standards. “I have never done a movie where I revealed more than my shoulder,” she remarked.
Concluding her thoughts, she stated firmly, “Nakedness is not a selling point.” When asked why she had been less visible on screen recently, Mogaji explained that she had been occupied with other endeavors and was not as active on social media, where people often keep track of public figures. However, she hinted that more projects are forthcoming.
Mrs. Binta gave the reason as to why her generation didn’t seem to be financially affluent. She emphasized that it depends on how good you are and what your definition of success is. She added that the new generation of actresses don’t just make their money from films but other sources that they don’t disclose.
