š° Oklahoma Leaders Rally Behind White House Strike: Stitt and Lankford Hail āDecisive Actionā on Iranā¦
June 22, 2025 ā Oklahoma City, OK ā In the wake of a U.S. military operation targeting Iranian nuclear development facilities, Oklahomaās top political leaders have issued statements of full support, calling the move ādecisive,ā ānecessary,ā and āa stand for global security.ā
Governor Kevin Stitt, addressing reporters at the Capitol on Saturday evening, stated:
āThe Biden administration made a bold but necessary decision. These strikes send a message that the United States will not tolerate unchecked nuclear threats. Oklahoma stands firmly behind our armed forces and intelligence community.ā
Senator James Lankford echoed the governorās sentiments, releasing a joint statement from Washington:
āIran has crossed too many red lines for too long. These surgical strikes were not just a responseāthey were a long-overdue measure to halt a regime determined to destabilize the region. I applaud our Presidentās resolve and urge Congress to remain united in our national defense.ā
The coordinated U.S. airstrikes, carried out late Friday night, reportedly targeted enrichment sites in Natanz and Fordow, prompting a flurry of global reactions. While several allies cautiously backed the move, others urged restraint, fearing wider escalation in the region.
Back in Oklahoma, bipartisan support was more muted. While Republican lawmakers voiced approval, some Democratic leaders urged caution.
Representative Tanya Delgado (D-OK-4) said in a press release:
āWhile I support the protection of American interests, we must remain vigilant that this does not spiral into another endless conflict. Congressional oversight is critical moving forward.ā
Oklahoma veteransā groups also weighed in. Jason Malone, commander of the Oklahoma Vets United coalition, called the strike āreassuring.ā
āOur military is showing strength with precision. Itās important that our servicemen and women know their leaders are united and standing with them.ā
With tensions rising in the Middle East and questions mounting about potential retaliation, Oklahomaās leaders appear committed to maintaining a strong public stance in defense of the administrationās actions.
Governor Stitt concluded his remarks with a patriotic nod:
āOklahoma has always stood for faith, freedom, and security. We will continue to support our nation in any measure that protects those values.ā

Title: āOklahomaās Backbone: In Times of Fire, We Stand Firmā
By Clara Whitmore, Senior Political Analyst ā June 22, 2025
There are moments when leadership isnāt measured in calm committee hearings or televised speeches ā but in the silence after a missile strike, and in the courage to say, āWe stand with our country.ā
Governor Kevin Stitt and Senator James Lankford didnāt flinch when asked about the White Houseās decision to neutralize Iranian nuclear sites. They didnāt hide behind bureaucracy. They did what Oklahomans have done since statehood ā they stood tall.
While critics will point to the risk of escalation or the fear of entanglement, the facts remain: Iran was warned. Peace was on the table. They chose defiance.
To our military families across Tinker, Vance, Altus ā this paper stands with you. Oklahoma believes in strength with purpose. We believe that when Americaās safety is threatened, response is not only justified ā it is required.
Let history write its pages. For now, Oklahoma writes its own: of faith, loyalty, and resolve.

Title: āStrength Is Measured in Restraint, Not Retaliationā
By Malik R. Davis, Opinion Contributor
While the strike on Iranian facilities may win praise from Washingtonās war hawks, let us ask: At what cost?
Governor Kevin Stitt and Senator Lankford cheered what they called ādecisive action,ā but the people of Oklahoma deserve more than slogans. They deserve transparency, strategy, and diplomacy.
Military families are bracing for deployments. Our allies are urging caution. And the Iranian regime ā one that thrives on martyrdom and propaganda ā now has another excuse to rally radicals.
Peace is not weakness. Caution is not cowardice.
Let us not trade long-term safety for short-term applause.
We call on our elected officials to ensure oversight, demand international dialogue, and remember the value of every Oklahoman ā in uniform or not.
