In light of the unfortunate passing of the esteemed actor Murphy Afolabi, Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad has shared his perspective on the prayers that should be offered for him. Sheikh Ahmad holds the belief that prayers should not be extended to Afolabi due to the nature of his career and the roles he portrayed in movies.
According to Sheikh Ahmad, Murphy Afolabi’s involvement in the film industry included portraying the character of Baba Alawo, which was perceived as promoting traditional religion. The Islamic cleric emphasized that Afolabi’s choice of roles contradicted the rules and desires of God, leading him to view Afolabi as an unbeliever.
Sheikh Ahmad further underlined that as an unbeliever who promoted traditional religion, Afolabi did not merit receiving prayers from Muslims.
He captioned his video with the following statement: “It is unfortunate that some Muslims are unaware of the content depicted in Yoruba movies, even when they watch them. Can someone pray for someone who dies after portraying the role of Baba Alawo in a movie?”
