Ooni of Ife Adds New Wife Following Conflict Among Existing Wives
In the wake of a recent incident where the wives of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, engaged in a public snubbing at an event, it has been reported that the monarch has entered into a new marriage. Queen Opeoluwa Elizabeth Akinmuda, now the sixth wife of the Ooni, is said to have been married to him for some time. While there are no available photographs of their wedding circulating online, an invitation has been issued for a Thanksgiving service scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Preceding the event, the Queen will partake in a traditional entry into the ancient Ife Oodua Palace of Ile-Ife on Thursday. Presently, the Ooni has not made any official statements regarding the new marriage on his social media platforms.
The incident at the recent event, where the Ooni’s wives snubbed each other, took place a few days ago during the unveiling of a Coffee Book titled “Ile-Ife, The Cradle of the World” in Lagos. In a video posted online by City People TV, Olori Ashley and Olori Ronke, the fourth and fifth wives respectively, were seen seated together when the first wife, Olori Mariam, approached them. Olori Mariam extended her greetings to Olori Ashley, but Olori Ronke chose to ignore her, causing quite a stir with her noticeable behavior.
