She graced the stage at King Charles III’s coronation concert held at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom, becoming the first Nigerian artist to perform at a British monarch’s coronation.
Tiwa captivated the audience with her enchanting voice, delivering a breathtaking rendition of the song “Keys to the Kingdom” which she recorded alongside Mr. Eazi for BeyoncĂ©’s album, “The Lion King,” released in July 2019. The performance garnered over 18 million viewers worldwide and received immense admiration from the crowd of over 20,000 attendees.
Dressed in a stunning custom wardrobe that showcased Nigerian heritage, Tiwa looked resplendent in a bespoke green shimmering gown designed by Lanre Da Silva. Her attire was perfectly complemented by green nails and elegant Louboutin heels.
As she serenaded the audience, Tiwa was accompanied by a talented ensemble of violinists, drummers, and backing vocalists, creating a harmonious fusion of Yoruba melodies. Tiwa Savage’s journey in the music industry has been marked by remarkable achievements. Born in Isale Eko, she relocated to London at the age of 11 for her secondary education. She pursued her academic endeavors at the University of Kent, where she obtained a degree in Business Administration. Additionally, Tiwa holds a professional music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, earned in 2007.
Her music career began as a backup vocalist for renowned American artists like George Michael and Mary J. Blige. In 2006, Tiwa participated in the UK edition of The X Factor, reaching the final 24 contestants before being eliminated as the 12th person. She later co-hosted the second season of Nigerian Idol alongside IllRymz in December 2011. Tiwa made her acting debut in the stage adaptation of “For Coloured Girls,” starring alongside Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle.
Joining Mavin Records in 2012, Tiwa Savage became one of the label’s prominent artists. Her debut studio album, “Once Upon a Time,” was released in 2013 and featured hit singles like “Kele Kele Love,” “Love Me (3x),” “Without My Heart,” “Ife Wa Gbona,” “Folarin,” “Olorun Mi,” and “Eminado.” She followed up with her second studio album, “R.E.D,” in 2015, which included notable tracks like “My Darlin” and “Standing Ovation.” Tiwa also released her debut EP titled “Sugarcane.”
In May 2019, she announced her record deal with Universal Music Group and her departure from Mavin Records.
