The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has disclosed the circumstances leading to the tragic death of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
During a press briefing held on Friday at the Lagos State Command headquarters in Ikeja, CP Idowu Owohunwa explained that Mohbad had started experiencing adverse effects after being injected three times by a nurse named Feyisayo Ogedemgbe on September 12, 2023.
According to the Commissioner of Police, after a performance on Sunday, Mohbad’s car was surrounded by some local toughs. Mohbad, who was intoxicated and agitated, attempted to confront them, but his friend Primeboy intervened. Unfortunately, Mohbad’s punch missed Primeboy, and he accidentally struck his hand against the window of a Prado Jeep, causing a severe injury.
Upon returning home, Mohbad’s injured hand continued to bleed, and his wife urged him to seek medical attention, which he initially refused. However, on Tuesday, September 12, when his hand became swollen and painful, he contacted his personal nurse, Funmi, who was unavailable. In response, his friend Ayobami suggested calling another nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who was not a licensed nurse but provided medical care in people’s homes.
Feyisayo administered three injections to Mohbad, and shortly afterward, he began to experience vomiting and developed goosebumps. Recognizing that he was reacting negatively to the injections, Feyisayo rushed to a nearby pharmacy to obtain treatment. However, during her absence, Mohbad started convulsing.
They urgently transported Mohbad to Cura-med Hospital in Lekki, where he was declared dead on arrival. His team members, unconvinced, transferred him to Perez Hospital in Lekki, which also confirmed his death on arrival and issued a death certificate.
