Internet users have reacted to a widely circulated video in which Yoruba Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola discusses her frequent portrayal of violent roles in films.
During a live video session, Wumi Toriola emphasized that her on-screen persona differs from her real-life self, and she is merely delivering her roles to the best of her ability.
The mother of one, who seemed to be addressing a common issue, stated that even though she often takes on romantic roles in films and excels in them, many people tend to confuse her true personality with the characters she portrays on screen.
However, her explanation was met with skepticism from internet users. Barrister Dolapo cited Toyin Abraham and Seyi Edun as examples of instances where the actress had engaged in live Instagram videos during disputes.
Dolapo expressed their disapproval, saying, “You are a bitter soul… the fact that you always go on live video whenever you have issues with someone shows you are too toxic… you did it to Seyi and Toyin. Any wise person in your industry won’t get close to you again.”
Naijalegit recalls that Wumi Toriola had previously voiced her concerns about the types of roles she was receiving in movies. While promoting one of her films, she lamented the violent roles she had recently portrayed and how it might impact her quest for love.
Although she made the statement in a light-hearted manner, she discussed both the positive and challenging aspects of marriage that contributed to its success.
It’s worth noting that Toriola had previously addressed rumors of an affair with Toyin Abraham’s husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi. Naijalegit reported that Wumi Toriola took to Instagram to refute these claims, asserting that they were false and malicious.
