Mohbad and the Marlians’ beef: How it all started
Since the news of Nigerian singer Mohbad’s death went viral, his former label boss, Naira Marley, has faced accusations from fans and lovers of the deceased. Mohbad and Naira Marley had a falling out in 2022, with reports of harm done to Mohbad allegedly by Naira Marley’s associates. This strained relationship has led some fans to believe that Naira Marley might not be entirely innocent regarding Mohbad’s death.
Instagram blogger Cutie_juls has shed light on the main cause of the dispute between Mohbad and the Marlians.
According to the blogger, Mohbad’s primary offense in Naira Marley’s eyes wasn’t related to money. Allegedly, Naira Marley insisted that Mohbad join a cult, specifically the Eiye cult, but Mohbad refused and wanted nothing to do with cultism.
Even on a day when Samlarry, one of Naira Marley’s associates, attempted to assault Mohbad, he still pursued Mohbad to Elegushi Beach and severely beat him, nearly blinding him.
This altercation happened after Mohbad’s godfather, Omologo, had pleaded with Samlarry, Naira Marley, and others to resolve their issues peacefully, even offering to bring Mohbad to Nigeria from Ghana for that purpose. Despite Omologo’s efforts, they still went ahead and attacked Mohbad.
Samlarry even went into hiding because he knew Omologo would seek retribution for the attack, so he didn’t attend this year’s Mushin carnival.
The recent triggering event for the last attack on Mohbad was when he acquired a house on Orchid Road, financed partly by his last release and support from his godfather. This house apparently unsettled Naira Marley and his Marlians, leading to further conflict.
The post concludes with a plea to Naira Marley to take Mohbad’s house and follow him to his grave, insinuating that at Mohbad’s burial, there won’t be anyone like Omologo to protect him.
