A tearful Josh Laurent acknowledges that he is working hard every day to demonstrate his worth in the Premier League and that he is anxious to please everyone.
Having played in the EFL for the great bulk of his career, this is the 30-year-old’s first taste of the Premier League.
Laurent actually started his career with Braintree Town on loan in the non-league, but now, eleven years later, he is playing in the top flight against teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham.
Laurent responded, “I do actually,” when asked if he thinks like he’s developing into a Premier League player. You get used to it, but that first game [away to Tottenham] was difficult.
“You start to believe in yourself a little more after I came on against United and you came on against Sunderland. You begin to think, “You know what? I’m competent enough to be here.
“I think I deserve to be at this level because the manager and the staff are so supportive of all of us.” Every week, I want to demonstrate that.
“I believe it’s reasonable to say that I’m attempting to demonstrate to everyone my worth and belongingness here. As I have done throughout my career, I am simply working hard.
“I have the club’s support, which makes it much easier to know that everyone is on your side. I adore being here.

Laurent has now played in a back three for the last three games after starting in midfield during Spurs’ season opener.
Laurent is eager to assist Burnley in achieving their ultimate goal of remaining in the Premier League, regardless of where his boss Scott Parker asks him to be placed.
Laurent takes a great deal of pleasure in his footballing path, having had to grind his way up from lower levels. “I am extremely proud,” he continued.
“The voyage has been lengthy. I’m going to become emotional over you! “I’ve fallen below before moving on to the next level, but I would have loved to have stayed at one club a little while longer and found a home.
“I do feel at home here with this club now. It’s up to me, although I hope to stay here for a long time.
I must demonstrate that. However, I will always be appreciative of everyone at this club who has welcomed me and helped me greatly.
“I simply don’t want to disappoint anyone.” I simply want to keep getting better and show everyone that I’m deserving of this position.
