Popular Yoruba actress Lizzy Anjorin has shared details about her past experiences with her ex-husband’s family during a candid interview on the official YouTube channel of With Chude.
Lizzy revealed that when she became pregnant for her ex-husband, his mother treated her poorly, and when he took her to his uncle for marriage approval, the uncle rejected her. According to her, the uncle’s disapproval stemmed from her background, as she used to wash plates at a restaurant to make a living.
Reflecting on her humble beginnings, Lizzy said, “When my mother couldn’t afford to pay my tuition fees anymore, I told her I wanted to start working, and she agreed.”
Her story highlights her resilience and determination in overcoming challenges to achieve success in her career and personal life.
I started washing plates in a restaurant, and that was where I met a young man who proposed marriage to me, and I got pregnant for him. My husband took me to his uncle, and he rejected me because I wash plates for a living. When I
met his mother, she was happy to see me, and she asked me to follow her to another state where I was helping her to manage one of her shops. I later decided to move back to Lagos, and I left my child with my ex-husband’s mother in order to move on with my life.”
