“…Because Everybody Love Jenifa” – Funke Akindele Brag As She Beats Her Previous Cinema Record, Hits 1.6 Billion

Nollywood actress and box office sensation Funke Akindele has been left overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection from her fans and admirers.

Her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has shattered records to become the highest-grossing movie in West Africa, earning an impressive ₦1.6 billion. Celebrating this remarkable achievement, Funke took to her Instagram page to announce that the movie has surpassed her previous record, marking yet another milestone in her illustrious career.

An emotional Funke stated that she doesn’t know what to write again as she expressed gratitude to her millions of fans and supporters and credited God for doing it for her.

“Na God do am o!!!!
I am so grateful to you all!!!!
I no know Wetin I go write again!!!”.

The fact that Funke Akindele is Africa’s box office queen is no longer news. She became the first Nigerian director to earn over N1.4 billion at the box office in January of last year with her 2023 feature, A Tr!be Called Judah. Given that Funke is among the most diligent women in Nollywood, many were not surprised. The highest-grossing Nollywood films ever are her flicks from the last three years: Omo Ghetto The Saga, Battle On Buka Street, and A Tr!be Called Judah.
