Comedian and filmmaker AY Makun has posted a picture of himself in a black outfit following backlash from Nigerians for reportedly skipping the funeral of his estranged wife, Mabel Makun’s mother, Mrs Rose Temietan Nwanegbu.
Mrs Nwanegbu was laid to rest at the Garden Ikoyi in Lagos, with Mabel, dressed in black, joined by friends like singer Waje, Dr. Rommel, journalist Azuka Ogujiuba and family members at the solemn event.
Videos from the ceremony circulated on Sunday, sparking speculation about AY’s presence, as many assumed he was absent and criticised him for it.
In response, AY shared a photo of himself with a friend, both dressed in black, captioned, “It is well…” without specifying the occasion.
The post drew mixed reactions from fans.
While some praised him for attending the funeral, others criticised those who rushed to conclusions about his absence.
