Popular Nollywood actress and box office queen, Funke Akindele, has shown her support for colleague Femi Adebayo as he gears up for the release of his highly anticipated film, Seven Doors.
By promoting the upcoming feature, Funke has demonstrated her solidarity with Femi Adebayo, a rare gesture from the actress and filmmaker, who is not known for frequently endorsing her peers’ projects. She recently urged her followers to watch the film, emphasizing its significance and her confidence in its success.
Funke Akindele shared the film’s trailer on her Instagram page on Monday, encouraging her fans to get ready for its release. Funke Akindele captioned the trailer:
“Dem don open door o!!!!!💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽”
“Can’t wait to see this Limited series #sevendoors by @femiadebayosalami. Congrats Femi!!! This one go loud o!!! Out on #Netflix December 13!!! Legggooooooo.”
In an August interview with Independence, Femi Adebayo had hinted at the scope of his new project, describing it as “better than Jagun Jagun.” He elaborated on the film’s unique setting:
“The next movie that I said is bigger than Jagun Jagun is titled Seven Doors. It’s set in two eras—the 18th century and the 19th century—which means we have the old-school setting with those 504s and Volkswagens, and it also takes us back to that kind of Jagun Jagun environment.
“It’s a mix, featuring multiple tribes. It’s about a Yoruba king married to an Igbo woman, with a Hausa man coming to invest. It’s a showcase of Nigerian culture.”
The cast of Seven Doors includes an array of stars such as Femi Adebayo, Chioma Akpotha, Wumi Toriola, Yinka Quadri, Oshodi Oke, Dayo Amusa, Adebayo Salami and Gabriel Afolayan.
Seven Doors trailer was first released on the streaming platform, Netflix’s Instagram page on Friday November 15, with the post urging fans to troop to its site to watch once it is released.
