Actress Funke Akindele Features Lagos Firefighters In Her New Movie “Everybody Loves Jenifa”

Filmmaker Funke Akindele is set to include the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in her upcoming movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, following a pledge she made last month. This development was shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor.

Gawat released a video accompanying the announcement, highlighting Funke Akindele’s commitment to featuring the state’s fire service in her film, which is expected to bring attention to their vital role in the community.

He wrote, “Renowned Nollywood Actress and CEO of Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), @funkeakindele features Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service @LagosRescue on her upcoming movie as promised.

“She made the promise when she visited the agency last month.”

Funke had expressed a desire to collaborate with the fire service during her courtesy visit to their office in Alausa in July.

She announced plans to incorporate fire prevention themes in her film to help reduce fire outbreaks in the state.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service welcomed the collaboration, noting that it aligns with their mission to promote safety and prevent fire-related incidents.

This collaboration aims to educate the public on fire hazards and promote proactive measures to prevent fires.

In April, Funke Akindele announced on Instagram that her upcoming film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, a spinoff from the Jenifa franchise will premiere in December.
