My comrades and I went to Osogbo from OAU for some type of student protest/rally, in Osogbo. From nowhere we heard gunshots and tear-gas/mace from the cops. It was a day of pain, discomfort and tears. This beautiful soul opened the door to her small abode to us, in the state of pandemonium, she screamed Ẹ wọlé, ẹ wọlé, I only heard the voice, I didn’t see the face cos of the mace in my eyes, but a few of us ran inside her house and she closed the door immediately. We stood in her hall way, trying figure out if we all of us knew each other, Then she brought out a couple of rags and poured kerosene on the rags, then gave the rags to us to lay it on our eyes. It’s was dark in there and Noone said anything for the fear of being heard by the curious and searching cops outside. A few mins later, this Grandma opened her door to see if the coast was clear, right after that, she sat on a very small stool (àpótí) with the daylight reflecting on her face, and I said ha! This is ìyá Osogbooooooo! …. This Grandma may not remember this story but I remember it vividly, it’s just like yesterday. Thank you mama, for being an Angel, for being a saving Grace, honestly as young as I was, that was the day I felt so close to sleeping in a Nigerian cell, 😂😂😂😂😂 thank you mama….. I owe you big time 😁😁😁😁 @kunleafod thanks very much for all you do sir and it was nice having you around sir… 🙌🙌
