Nigerian celebrities have been spotted celebrating with utmost joy as the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated South Africa on penalties to advance to the AFCON final.
In the AFCON semi-final match that was played today, February 7th 2024, the Super Eagles defeated the Bafana-Bafana of South-Africa 4-2 on penalties to qualify for the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The match ended 1-1 after extra time and the three-time champions will face hosts Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of Congo, who meet later, in the final on Sunday.
Both regular-time goals also came from penalties with captain William Troost-Ekong scoring after 67 minutes for Nigeria and Teboho Mokoena equalised from a 90th-minute spot-kick.
The Mokoena equaliser came after Nigeria thought they had scored a second goal through a tap-in from star forward Victor Osimhen.
However, Kelechi Iheanaco who came from the bench to play his first game of the competition came from the bench to score the winning penalty during the extra-time shootout.

As the match kicked off, rapper Zlatan Ibile raised eyebrows by anointing each of the Super Eagles players.
However, the anointing works as the Super Eagles wins and him alongside other celebrities in Nigeria that include, Pocolee, Carter Efe, Iyabo Ojo, Governor Ademola Adeleke, Tobi Bakre, Falz, Adekunle Gold, Teni, Regina Daniels, Dikeh and others celebrates.
