The renowned Fuji singer, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, also known as the “Oganla of Fuji,” is preparing to celebrate four decades in the music industry.
Pasuma shared this milestone news on his social media, expressing gratitude to his fans and well-wishers.
Reflecting on his career, he emphasized his commitment to advocating for a better society, supporting emerging artists, and ensuring fan satisfaction.
Additionally, Pasuma touched upon the challenges he faced in his early years when others attempted to categorize him.
In his words, he wrote, ,”A singer takes every opportunity to use his voice and his platform to campaign for the betterment of humanity, and that is all I have done in my 40 years of my commitment to fuji music.
I’m so happy that the technology arrived at the right time to unleash the potential of the then young generation of musicians like myself in the early 80’s.
Throughout my career, it has always been a campaign for a better society, helping younger artists and fans’ satisfaction for me.
People try to put us in pigeon holes and always degrade fuji music but we have changed the narrative to make people see fuji music in a better light through serene music and fans satisfaction.
I faced this my entire career, and I said to people all the time, ‘for all this years and more that you are underestimating my genre of music, the change is going to come as a tsunami and it’s starting with me and my music’, that’s where we are today, there is no gain saying that fuji music has taken over as the number 1 traditional music in Nigeria, and we are proud of fuji music infusion into hip hop and afro beat music all over the world.
Anticipate PASUMA’S 40 YEARS ON STAGE, it’s another milestone celebration for fuji music and all fuji musicians within and outside Nigeria.”
