Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is experiencing an exciting phase in his career as he gains global recognition.

The controversial artist shared on his Instagram page that he received an award from The United States as the best new act of the year.

Additionally, his manager was honored with the Entertainment Manager of the Year award. Portable expressed appreciation to the award organizers, considering this recognition as evidence that he is on the right path.

He also thanked his team and fans while teasing his upcoming album.

“Recently, I was honored with the Best New Act of the Year award from the United States @aeausa, and my manager @babyluvgram received the Entertainment Manager of the Year award. It’s a sign that we’re on the right path. Grateful to God, my team, fans, and family, Zazuu all the way. My album is on the horizon. Keep supporting my music, blessings all the way.”

Months ago, Portable proudly proclaimed himself as the new Fela while celebrating his achievements. The street-singer secured the Artist of the Year award at the Golden Stars Award, proudly considering himself the new Fela in the caption.

In addition, Portable earned an award from Boomplay for surpassing 10 million song streams. Sharing a video of his jubilation with the award, he reflected on his journey, highlighting how someone like him, who didn’t have a formal education, continues to ascend in life. He expressed gratitude to Olamide and Poco Lee for paving the way for him.

More recently, Portable criticized Smooth Productions, the organizers of the popular Nigerian music awards, The Headies, following his loss in a category. In a live session on Instagram, he addressed the dispute, acknowledging his imperfections and expressing his frustration at the winner of the Next Rated award category.
