Nigerian actress Mercy Aigbe has shared a throwback photo of her daughter when she left Nigeria for Canada, followed by recent photos after her daughter’s graduation.
On her Instagram page, the actress revealed that sending her daughter, Michelle, to study abroad was her dream, but she experienced mixed emotions when her daughter left, fearing she would be alone in a foreign land and might succumb to negative peer pressure.
Mercy Aigbe expressed her gratitude to God for seeing her through this journey. She couldn’t contain her joy and announced that her daughter would soon pursue her Master’s degree.
She wrote, “Apologies for filling your timeline 🥺. I just can’t contain my joy 💃🎉💯💃. The picture on the left was the day Michelle left Nigeria, a day filled with a roller coaster of emotions for me. I was happy as it had always been my dream, but I was super scared because she would be all alone. I couldn’t sleep for days, worried about her not succumbing to negative peer pressure in a foreign land. Whew! It was a tough period for me, but God showed up strong 🥲.
The picture on the right is NOW! God made my dream come true, kept me in great health to witness this day and empowered me to see her through. It wasn’t easy, and there were times I almost gave up. I never stopped working, even in the face of many responsibilities and challenges, but GOD DID IT!

Mercy Aigbe, as reported by Naijalegit, recently shared an open letter to her daughter, Michelle, who had just graduated from the University of Manitoba, Canada. In her heartfelt letter, the proud mother expressed gratitude to God and immense pride in her daughter’s achievements.
She began her letter with:
“An Open Letter To My Amazing Daughter.
Dear Michelle,
For 22 years you have been a constant in my life. We have cried together, laughed together, and experienced life together.”
Mercy Aigbe shared her initial fears and worries when Michelle decided to study abroad but how she had now come to appreciate the decision. She continued:
“I remember when I decided you would be going to study abroad, I was so scared of so many things, but you kept assuring me you would be fine. I cried so many times because I was so worried about you leaving my side, but today I am so thankful that I made that decision. Look at you. Look at how far you have come.”
The actress expressed her immense pride in her daughter’s growth and accomplishments, describing her as smart, brilliant, hardworking, and intelligent. She further conveyed her happiness and thanked Michelle for embracing the morals and values she had been taught.
She concluded her heartfelt letter with blessings and love for Michelle as she enters a new season of life and commended her as a “Gorgeous, Intelligent, God-Fearing, Prayerful, Goal Getter, Brilliant, Calm, Humble, Tenacious, Smart, Respectful, Caring, Gracious, and a Good Cook.”
Mercy Aigbe signed the letter as the “Mom of the latest Graduate, Mummy Michelle.”
