Notable Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has been detained by the police in connection with the passing of his former protege, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
This development comes shortly after the arrest of Naira Marley’s close friend and Lagos socialite, Sam Larry, at the Lagos airport upon his return to Nigeria. Sam Larry faced allegations of involvement in Mohbad’s demise.
Just a few hours ago, Naira Marley, who has consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, took to his verified X platform page to inform the police of his return to Lagos, Nigeria.
He stated, “I wish to inform you that I have just returned to Lagos, Nigeria, to cooperate with the authorities in the ongoing investigation. It’s crucial for me to contribute to Imole’s case. I will be meeting with the police in the hope that the truth will come to light and justice will prevail.”
Confirming this, Nigerian police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, shared on his X platform page that Naira Marley has indeed been apprehended and is now in custody for questioning.
The post reads: “Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has been placed in custody for interrogation and further investigative procedures…”
