The late Gbenga Adeboye, widely known as ‘Funwontan,’ received a posthumous award at the recently concluded Nigerian Comedy Award, held at the Eko Convention Center in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Damilola Gbenga Adeboye, his daughter, graciously accepted the posthumous award on behalf of her late father during the event.

In her acceptance speech, she conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to God and the event organizers for recognizing and honoring her late father’s enduring legacy in the comedy industry. It’s a poignant tribute to a cherished comedian.

Gbenga Adeboye was a multi-talented Nigerian personality, excelling as a singer, comedian, radio presenter, broadcaster, and master of ceremonies. He sadly passed away on April 30, 2003, due to kidney-related diseases.
