Renowned Human Rights Lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana revealed that Omowunmi, the wife of the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, recently sought justice by visiting his office.
On September 12, 2023, Mohbad, an emerging star in Nigeria’s music industry, tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances. He was laid to rest the following day.
The sudden demise of this talented singer has sparked widespread calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
Responding to these demands, Omowunmi Aloba, his wife, reached out to Femi Falana, a renowned advocate for human rights and justice.
Mr. Falana confirmed Mrs. Aloba’s visit to his office and her plea for legal assistance in seeking justice for her late husband, as reported by Punch.
He expressed his commitment to supporting her in her quest for truth and accountability. In addition, Femi Falana proactively engaged the legal system to ensure a proper investigation.
He disclosed that he had a conversation about the matter with Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa. Commissioner Owohunwa reportedly assured Mr. Falana that a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing was already underway.
“The young widow of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, who was also known as Mohbad, paid a visit to our office on Tuesday to seek our assistance in pursuing justice for her late husband.
“We offered our heartfelt condolences to her and the entire Aloba family, assuring her of our unwavering commitment to uncover the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of the Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter.
“Following this, we convened a meeting with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa, to discuss the ongoing police investigation into the matter. The CP provided me with an update on the progress made thus far in the investigation.”
