The body of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad was finally exhumed on September 21, 2023, by the police in Ikorodu, Lagos State. A few days earlier, the Lagos State Police Command had revealed that they were waiting for paperwork to be completed with the state Ministry of Health before exhuming Mohbad’s body as part of the investigation process. Following the exhumation, the late Mohbad’s remains were taken to the hospital where an autopsy will commence immediately.
Mohbad passed away on September 12 in controversial circumstances and was buried on September 13. Nigerians demanded an autopsy due to revelations of harassment and assault he experienced while alive. The Lagos State Police Command established a 13-man committee on September 19 to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, with a report expected in two weeks.
