In the wake of Nigerian singer Mohbad’s tragic passing, a throwback video has surfaced online, shedding light on his previous suicide attempt.
Mohbad’s tumultuous relationship with his former record label, owned by musician Naira Marley, was well-known, and he had shared various clips detailing alleged assaults he endured.
In the throwback video, Mohbad’s close friend and colleague, Bella Shmurda, disclosed that the singer had contemplated suicide during his disputes with Marlians.
Bella Shmurda went on to reveal that Mohbad’s girlfriend played a crucial role in preventing the suicide attempt. He recounted, “I don’t have to say this, but I’ll say this. At one point, Mohbad and I were in an apartment, and Mohbad mentioned that he wanted to jump from the upstairs because of label issues (with Marlians Records). We held him at the window.
Mohbad had nearly jumped when his girlfriend entered the room and saw Mohbad sitting at the window because of all these things.”
He added, “You can’t keep going through such ordeals while people pretend that nothing is happening. Something is happening. Something that can drive you to contemplate taking your own life. It’s going to the extreme.”
