Renowned Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, commonly referred to as Bobrisky, has decided to proceed with elaborate funeral arrangements for his late father, despite receiving contrary advice from his religious leader.
This decision comes after the heartbreaking loss of Bobrisky’s father, Kunle Okuneye, which he shared via his Snapchat account on Monday, August 14th.
Bobrisky’s brother, Debola Okuneye, shared additional details about their father’s passing and the upcoming funeral when interviewed by Punch. Additionally, a close friend and colleague of the deceased, known as ‘Lastbborn,’ provided further insights into the circumstances surrounding his death and the funeral proceedings.
The late individual was laid to rest at 4 pm in his hometown of Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun State, following Islamic funeral customs. During the funeral, a viral video captured a religious cleric (Alfa) cautioning Bobrisky against organizing a celebration for his father. However, it appears that Bobrisky intends to disregard this advice and is determined to make his father’s burial in Ijebu a memorable event.
On his Instagram page, Bobrisky posted a video in which he can be seen carefully choosing a headtie for the upcoming event. He explained that he visited Lagos Island specifically to select the headtie, or “gele,” for his father’s 41st day and ultimate burial ceremony scheduled for September 30th. In his post, he enthusiastically declared, “All my friends, I hope you’re prepared to make Ijebu Igbo shine in blue and black.”
Bobrisky cancels his birthday plans following father’s demise
In a heartfelt gesture to honor his late father, Bobrisky had decided to cancel his birthday celebrations. Instead, he announced his intention to host an extravagant funeral for his father in the upcoming 41 days.
Expressing the depth of his grief, he shared that he had shed tears over the devastating loss, emphasizing that despite his age, the pain of losing his father was immeasurable.
