Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo Salami, has shared the extensive efforts he undertook to bring his latest movie, “Jagun Jagun,” to fruition.
During a press interview, the box office maven unveiled that he liquidated his assets to finance the film, opting against seeking financial assistance from banks or individuals.
He further revealed that “Jagun Jagun” stands as a multi-billion naira undertaking, although he refrained from disclosing the precise amount he invested in the project.
“Jagun Jagun is a project worth several billion naira, and I’m unable to provide the precise sum I allocated to its production. I utilized the earnings from ‘Agbeshinkole’ to bring ‘Jagun Jagun’ to life. My intention was to avoid seeking financial support from institutions and individuals. There came a time when I faced financial constraints, yet due to my faith in the project’s potential success, I resorted to selling my assets.”
During the interview, he went on to admit that his greatest concern lies in surpassing the accomplishment of ‘Jagun Jagun’ in his upcoming venture.
Upon completing “King of Thieves,” he held a firm belief that his subsequent endeavor would surpass it. However, his current confidence level does not align with that sentiment.
“My greatest fear is having to match the success of ‘Jagun Jagun’ in my forthcoming project.”
Femi also shared insights into the process of establishing the warrior school from the ground up.
“We initiated the creation of the warrior school from the ground up. We encountered the challenge of procuring the land, as our aim was to secure ownership. Initially, we reached an agreement and made a payment, but later the landowner’s offspring altered their decision regarding the sale. By the time we had constructed the school to a significant point, these individuals, who had traveled from Lagos, demanded that we cease our efforts.
They were prepared to demolish the structures we had erected. This situation led to a delay of almost a week, during which we visited the police station and appealed to local authorities in hopes of a resolution. Eventually, we were advised to use the location for filming purposes only, without purchasing it.”
Regarding his inspiration, Femi stated, “The driving force behind the storyline of ‘Jagun Jagun’ is Nigeria’s youth and their surroundings. I aimed to convey a societal message to the younger generation, all while embracing our cultural roots.”
