Taking to social media, Yemi My Lover expressed his dissatisfaction with Tope Alabi, a highly acclaimed gospel singer.
In a candid statement, he claimed that Tope Alabi was once his apprentice in the movie industry during the 1990s. However, he alleged that despite her subsequent success, she did not offer any form of support or assistance to him.
Part of his statement read, “Tope Alabi was my apprentice in the movie industry in the 90s. Now that she has made it, I can’t remember any help she ever rendered to me. She doesn’t even pick up my calls. Last year when I wanted to celebrate my birthday, I personally took the invitation letter to her office, but she neither came nor sent any gift to me. She didn’t even wish me a happy birthday. But I am not mad; that is her way of life. Some of these gospel singers have worse character than regular people.”

In an effort to provide clarity, Yemi My Lover spoke out and emphasized that his previous comments were driven purely by love and not by any personal expectations or grievances.
He clarified by stating, “Please, was I the one who established Tope Alabi? Why would I expect her to do anything for me? All my words that day, expressing that she didn’t attend my birthday or give me a gift, were purely out of love. I don’t hold anything against her. I am content with what I have.”
