Nigerian street singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has taken legal action against his mechanic for unauthorized filming and sharing a video of his wrecked G-Wagon.
Recently, news circulated that Portable had been involved in a car accident, resulting in significant damage to his new G-Wagon. In the viral video, his mechanic can be seen inspecting the wreckage and advising the singer to consider selling the car due to the extent of the damage.
In response to the video, Portable had his mechanic arrested, citing an invasion of privacy. Footage emerged online showing the mechanic at a police station, where he was reprimanded for his actions, which were deemed defamatory to the singer.
As part of the resolution, the mechanic was required to issue a public apology to Portable. In his apology, the mechanic expressed ignorance regarding the ownership of the vehicle and acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the circulating video. He clarified that he had provided an honest opinion based on his assessment of the car brought to his company for repairs.
The mechanic concluded by expressing remorse to Portable, commonly referred to as Zazuu, for any negative impact caused by the video.
